Following her junior year of college she taught English and Bible in Japan for a year before returning to Andrews University and graduating with a B.A. in Religion. Carol began her working career by spending several years as an Editorial Assistant for the General Conference Department of Education as it prepared new secondary religion textbooks. Prior to coming to her current position, she spent more than a decade as General Conference Recording Secretary, writing minutes for the Executive Committee, Administrative Committee, Church Manual Committee, and others. As part of this assignment, she traveled with the committee when it met in India, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Loma Linda, Brazil, and Toronto.
